The most basic window screen tool is a screen roller. This consists of a tool with a handle and a convex or concave spline roller at one end set in a bearing. It is used to press the screen spline down into the screen frame channel, completing the installation. Some screen window tools also contain a hawkbill knife on one end, which can be used to cut away old screen mesh, as well as for cutting new screen to size and trimming the excess. The hooked bill of these curved knives can also be used, with care, to pry out old retainer spline from the metal frame for disposal. Either way, you need a basic spline tool if you want to repair your screened doors and windows on your own, and we have them here!
