This short guide will assist you in replacing your old worn-out rack operator gear in a jalousie door or window or louvered window. Jalousie windows are windows made of parallel slats that can be opened and closed to control airflow.
The tools needed are a Flat head and Phillips head screwdriver.
Removal:
Begin by removing the crank handle by unscrewing the flat head screw holding it and place. Then you will want to remove the window screen to access the window operator gear.

The next step is to remove the fastener holding the link arm to the slide rail. Most operators used a c-clip and some old operators used a phillips head screw.
After the arm is disconnected, remove the 2 screws holding the rack operator in place.

Once the screws are removed, you can remove the old rack operator gear from the window.
Install:
Before you begin to install your new gear, you will want to choose the proper link arm and connect it to the operator gear by attaching the c-clip.

To install the new gear in place you will first want to attach the link arm to the drive rail by inserting the stud through the hole and attaching the c-clip.
Next you will want to move the operator in place so it aligns with the existing screw holes and reinstall the 2 operator mounting screws. If you need to raise or lower the body of the operator to align with the pre-existing holes, you can do so by turning the handle spline and that will raise or lower the gear.

The final step is to install the screen and then the crank handle by screwing in the flat head screw to hold it in place.

Tip: To ensure smooth functionality of your window, it is good to clean out the dust and dirt with a wet rag while accessing the rack gear.
