Spiral Window Balances

Spiral window balance replacements are a type of hardware that helps to keep the sash of a window in place. They are also known as spiral balance tubes or spiral sash balances. Spiral window balance replacements are installed on single-hung or double-hung windows that have tilt or non-tilt features. Spiral window balance replacements consist of a metal tube available in a 3/8" or 9/16" diameter that contains a coiled spring inside. The spring is attached to a rod that connects to the sash. When the sash is raised or lowered, the spring expands or contracts to provide tension and balance. Spiral window balance replacements can wear out over time and cause the sash to sag, stick, or fall. To replace them, you need to remove the old balance from the sash and the frame, and install a new one with the same size and weight rating.
